I have been able to gain skills through communication in relation to collaboration. I have been given many opportunities to work with people in different areas of my life. I am going to focus on my involvement when it comes to this page. You will get a glimpse into my collaboration with people in regard to serving my church as well as serving on mission trips.
I went on a mission trip to Guatemala in 2017. During this trip, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with those that lived in three different cities in Guatemala. For many, a mission trip involves serving people, but my mission trip looked a little different. During my time in Guatemala, I was able to serve alongside three different groups of people in hopes of working with them. Our mission of the trip was to provide communities with fruit trees, so we were shipped thousands of fruit trees, we distributed them among three villages, and helped them plant them in their communities and families backyards. This trip taught me how to work with people from different places around the world as well as meet people where they are and help provide them with what they need. Mission trips can often become about oneself and what they do for the people, but this trip was about serving each other and that came in many different ways - spending time together, serving one another through encouraging words, as well as physical acts of kindness.

Since I have been a student at Auburn University, I have been a member of Auburn Community Church. This church has impacted me in ways that I am unable to express in words and this is because of the effect the community has had on me. I have served on the host team for the past three years and it has been a wonderful opportunity. During my time on host team, I have learned how to communicate with people in many different areas. The host team is in charge of greeting people as they walk through the door, give them information when needed, and guide them to their seats! During this time of serving, I have been able to meet so many people that I wouldn't have met as well as serve a variety of people. Communication can look different, but physically communicating with my voice has been a wonderful opportunity. I have been quite introverted for the majority of my life, but having this volunteer position, I have been able to "come out of my shell" for the greater good of becoming the best version of myself in regard to communication.
Since the Fall of 2018, I have been a community group leader. I led a group alongside my friend and we studied Galatians with a group of about 8 girls. And prayerfully, we started another community group called "Women of The Bible" during the Fall semester of 2019. I have been able to connect, guide, and be a friend to 15 wonderful girls since the start of the semester. This opportunity has given me the ability to be a leader in collaboration with my friend as we guide these girls through this study. The collaboration comes in different forms: writing the Bible study every week, researching Bible verses, and sharing the information with our group - but my friend and I have had to work together instead of working alone which as been a wonderful learning opportunity for both of us.
