I have been able to gain skills through communication in relation to being creative as well. During a recent position, I had the role of Social Media Marketing for an insurance agency. This role allowed me to be creative in a field that is not necessarily the most creative, so I had to figure out how to brand this company using Facebook, Instagram, and their website. I also stayed in contact with customers via "Constant Contact", which is an email distribution site. I also had the opportunity to intern with the ePortfolio Project at Auburn University. For this internship, I was able to create "one-pagers" and informative videos. At Auburn, I took a Social Media and Public Relations course and during this, I had the opportunity to create a blog, which allowed me to show my creativity on a website as well as through my writing.
While I was the Advertising and Event Coordinator at Strawn & Co., Insurance, I was involved in staying in contact with 35,000+ customers. We used a website called Constant Contact to send out mass emails which included information related and unrelated to insurance as well as emails to celebrate different holidays. This allowed me to be creative in two areas: visually and verbally. I used this opportunity to share information that was going to help our customers, but as a company, we also wanted to keep it personal. So, we sent emails with seasonal hunting guides, giveaways, informative articles related to insurance, etc. This task also gave me a lot of responsibility; I share new information on the second Monday of every month, so I have learned how to prioritize my time to ensure the emails get out on time as well as make the information helpful and relevant. To the right, I have included links to three emails I have sent out.

During the same position at Strawn & Co., Insurance, I was in charge of their Facebook and Instagram. I was given the task of running their Instagram in hopes of getting more people connected to their website as well as the company in general. I post every other day on Instagram and Facebook, which has allowed me to share a vast amount of information to those that follow us on Instagram and like our Facebook Page. I have found it to be a fun opportunity to be creative through photography, caption writing, as well as informing people on social media platforms. To the left, I have included an example of a post and included a link to the Strawn & Co., Insurance Facebook page and Instagram profile.
Miller Writing Center - Intro Video
During my internship with the ePortfolio Project, I was given the opportunity to create an “intro video” for the Miller Writing Center. The Miller Writing Center is a part of the Auburn University Office of University Writing. The MWC offers free, one-on-one consultation for all writers at Auburn University. Their mission is to help students with their writing, whether that is for a class or outside of class. We decided to create an intro video to share information for professors to present in their courses as a way for their students to stay informed of what the MWC has to offer. The video included the hours of operation, services we provide, how to make an appointment with a consultant, where to find the MWC, as well as information on how to contact them. This video allowed me to be creative by way of creating a powerpoint including photos and short texts; I also had to write a script to go along with the powerpoint, and during the making of this video, I was able to learn how to use Audacity, Zoom, and Panopto.
During my internship, I was able to create a "one-pager". A one-pager is exactly what it sounds like; a single page (potentially front and back) containing information related to a specific topic. For my one-pager, I wrote about information related to Zoom, an online meeting facilitator. For this one-pager, I included information as simple as how to mute yourself as well as complex information. This one-pager would be sent out to staff at Auburn University to be able to help them through the use of Zoom. I was able to be creative through the use of photos, writing, as well as creating a simple layout for the information using an online website.
During a course called Social Media and Public Relations, our teacher encouraged us to create a personal blog to publish bi-weekly posts. For this assignment, we were given prompts to write about, but we were also given the opportunity to write about topics that interested us! To the left, I included three of my blog entries! I encourage you to simply click on the title of the blog post, and it will lead you to a PDF of my post! I thoroughly enjoyed this assignment because it helped me develop my writing skills as well as research skills on topics that I was unfamiliar with.
